San Francisco Rush

With the upcoming release of RUSH 2 I felt I should tell you about the game that made RUSH 2 possible, San Fransisco RUSH Extreme Racing, possibly the best racing game to date for the Nintendo 64

Track Selection
In this incredible game you can choose from 6 tracks each with its own unique characteristics. Track1 is an easy track, track 2,3, and 4 are medium tracks, and tracks 5, and 6 are hard tracks. When you drive in a championship season you race 24 races. Some may ask how does this work? Well I'm gonna tell yah. You see in no particular order they run the 6 tracks, they also run the 6 tracks in reverse or "backwards", and also they run the 6 tracks in a mirrored format or like the track is flipped over, finally you run the 6 tracks "backwards" and "mirrored."

Along with running the tracks the regular way there are many interesting secrets that can make the difference between a second place lose and a first place victory. It may be hard to notice when you are flying down the street at over 150 miles per hour but there are some highly detailed authentic sites on every track.

Track 1: The Bay Bridge, San Fransisco Bay, Golden Gate Park, the Pacific Ocean, and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Track 2: Trans-America Building, City Hall, the Palace of Fine Arts, Fishermans Wharf, and again the San Fransisco Bay.

Track 3: Sutro Tower, Chinatown, Lombard St., Financial District, and the Twin Peaks.

Track 4: San Fransisco Bay, and the BART(Bay Area Rapid Transit) Tube.

Track 5: the Marina District, San Fransisco Bay, Lafyette Park, Lombard St.,and the Pacific Heights.

Track 6: San Fransisco State University, a Water Treatment Plant, San Fransisco Zoo, Seal Rocks, Lincoln Park, Golden Gate Park, and the Sunset District.

Car Selection

With 6 great tracks comes 8 fantastic cars with 4 different difficulty levels. The difficulty level goes by how the car reacts to jumps, wind, being hit by other cars, and ramming other cars. The higher the difficulty the harder your car will be to keep on the road. My favorite car would have to be the Viper or the Punch Buggy but you choose your favorite for yourself. Yo can also choose from many of the different basic colors for your car also. Finally you choose Automatic or Manual transmission.

Options

In a non-circuit race you can choose from 1 to 8 laps while in a circuit you must choose a standard 3 laps. Again in a non-circuit race you can choose from 0 to 7 drones and again in a circuit you must race against a standard of 7 drones. You can put varying degrees of fog or wind on. You can also turn on deaths which is where you blow up once and you are finished for that race. Normally you just blow up as many times as you want. Also you can go for keys which are hidden on every track.

When you have such a great game like this you almost have to have a sequel and that is where RUSH 2 comes in. I f you are looking for a challenging racing game that looks and feels like the real thing the I suggest San Fransisco RUSH by Midway. I give the game a 10 out of 10 because it has all the qualities of a great racing game.
