Really, this is the first N64 game to have anything to do with water. Unfortunately, being one of the first games has its downfalls: only 2 players and no rumble pak support. A good feature is that it has its own memory system, so you don't have to spend money on an expensive controller pak.
Characters
This is an Japanese made game, so the characters have Japanese names. The cool part is that you can change these names. There are 4 characters to choose from, each with their own characteristics. You can choose regular or customize the jet ski characteristics, such as speed and handling.
Gameplay
Depending on the difficulty level, the game can be really easy or really hard. Your speed depends on 2 things, the racer chosen and your power meter. You gain power by going to the correct side of a buoy. If you miss one, the meter goes back to zero. If you miss 5, you automatically lose the race. Game modes include a 1 or 2 player race mode and a stunt mode, which are self explanatory.
Sound
Overall, I think the graphics are great. The lines on the characters aren't 100% smooth, but none of the original N64 games are smooth. The levels are very crisp and clear. The sund can get a little annoying, especially the announcer: the only major downfall of the game. He has the most annoying voice I have ever heard. He really shouldn't have been included!

This is one of the best games I have played for N64.
