Donkey Kong 64
Fatass gorilla returns for another adventure, his first on N64.
Well that fatass gorilla Donkey Kong and his small friend, Diddy Kong, are back but this time he brought three other friends. It may turn out to be a great game, and with Perfect Dark delayed, it may turn out to be the game to buy this Christmas, but will you pay 70 bucks for it. Yup, you read correctly. You will be packed with the expansion pack even if you already have one. Which really sucks for about three-fourths of people who own N64s, including me. If you don't have a job ask for this one for Christams.
King K. Rool captured your apey friends and its up to you to save them. Now this may seem like a generic storyline, but the game looks like its going to be fun. I just recently saw an almost complete demo of Donkey Kong 64, but I didn't get a chance to play it though, and I can tell you right now the graphics are sweet. All the Kongs are beautifully made. Speaking of the Kongs, becide Diddy and Donkey there are three other Kongs that you must save in order to use them. You can play as Chucky, a rather large gorrila, Lanky, a gorrila with super long arms, and Tiny, remeber candy from DK2 well this is her cousin a cute little monkey which can hover uses her pigtails.
This game is the largest game (most megabytes) on the N64 ever. That is why the developers at Rare needed to use the Expansion Pak, the game wouldn't fit on a cartidge! So naturally you should think that there will be many huge worlds, and within those worlds will be smaller boards. Well your right, there are eight huge worlds and when I say huge I mean HUGE worlds, plus an overworld. Also this game has tons of miny games. Each world has five different objectives. That means you basicly have to use other characters to explore the world and to accomplish the objectives. All together this game is huge. Gamers be prepared to spend a long time on this game.
Since this is such a huge game then naturally there are lots of items to collect. Collection of some items is mandatory while others are just fun to use or make your journey easier. If any of you have played Donkey Kong Country and following games then you know that there will be bannas, but somethings different this time. All bannas MUST be collected by ALL characters. Only when you have collected all bannas will you be able to face the bosses and advance through the game. And this time the Kongs have guns, yes guns, and other weaponry. The guns shoot fruit and vegetables. You must collect Banna Medals which to get weaponry and new ablities. You also have to collect Blueprint puzzle pieces in order to complete necessary blueprints you need to complete the game. A huge game and lots of fun items, what else could we ask for.
Keeping all these facts in mind I think that this is a pretty safe buy for the Holiday Season. Huge boards, lots of items, lots of enemies, and plus the fact that your almost always doing something makes this the game to buy this Christmas. Sure it might cost extra for the Expansion Pak, but what you should do if you have one is take out that one from your N64, put it in its package and try to sell it to a store like EB or Babbages, I'm not sure if they buy Expansion Paks, but its worth a shot and I know they buy used videogames (at least at EB they do), oh yeah, while your there pickup Donkey Kong64. You won't regrett it. But make sure not to get the Donkey Kong64, N64 package, it looks like shit. Even though I don't like the fact that the catridge is yellow, I must say that Donkey Kong64 is going to be another classic from Rare.
