Cruis'n World | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Cruis'n World: a great improvement of an outdated engine. Cruis'n World would have been a great game if it came out two years ago, when Cruis'n USA came out. Instead, here it is now after numerous delays, and still a pretty good rental game. But, in my opinion, not good enough to buy. Once you learn the tracks, you'll get sick of it and won't want to play it. There were some good additions to Cruis'n World, like the flipping feature. I also liked how you could choose to "Cruise the World" or do "Championship Mode". There were also new tracks and cars and some hidden cars. Another addition was 4 player mode. The gameplay was almost similar to that of Cruis'n USA, and the game was very easy to play. When I rented the game, it was very fun, at first, trying out the new tracks. As I played more and more, it became decreasingly less fun. That's why I wouldn't recommend buying it. The multiplayer mode was fun, though, and ran at the same speed as one- player mode. Now comes the bad part: graphics. Actually, the graphics are pretty good until it comes to the popup animation. That is a result of the old, Cruis'n USA engine. Besides that, it runs pretty fast and smooth. The sound was ok. Some of the music was a little old-fashioned, but you could change it at any time. The engine and tire sound effects were pretty good too. Overall, this game was pretty good. Eurocom did an excellent job of porting this so-so arcade game. If you have Cruis'n USA, don't buy it, but the game is considerably better than its predecessor. If you don't have Cruis'n USA, rent it and see if you like it. Cruis'n World features built in EEPROM with memory and rumble pak support. It has 14 tracks and tons of cars. Questions? Comments? Email me at obsession@n64rocks.com. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
